Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has been covering wars, natural disasters for more than 45 years, is focused on the plight of those living in these regions. Curry was a reporter for wars covering Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956 in Agana American journalist, television anchor and news reporter. She is most famous for her role as a reporter on the Today show which is a morning news program that aired on the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was noted especially by her reports on humanitarian crises in war-torn countries and on natural disasters. Curry's father was an sailor within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. She met her mother while working with her father in Japan after World War II. Because of her father's military service, her family often relocated. The family eventually relocated to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Curry graduated in 1978, with an undergraduate degree in journalism of the University of Oregon. It is possible that her early encounter with cultures and events shaped her approach to empathy she addresses international issues. Her path to a successful career when she started her broadcasting career as a student intern at KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon, eventually becoming the first news reporter female at the station, at around 22. Following that, she went onto becoming an anchor and reporter at KGW the NBC affiliate station in Portland. Four years later she moved from Portland to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS TV. She received two Emmy Awards during the six years that she worked for this station.
